some photographic memories of york and the east riding

In this section there are images of Hull and Beverley.  In many of them the landscape has changed dramatically since they were made, for example, that of Sammy’s Point, which has recently become home to Hull’s millennium project ‘The Deep.’  Prince’s Dock now has the Princes Quay shopping centre over much of it; Friar’s Lane in Beverley has been redeveloped; the image of Holy Trinity, Hull, depicts Watson’s Hospital, an ancient range of buildings which was replaced in 1904 by a covered indoor market hall, making this image one of the oldest in this gallery.

It must be reiterated that there are many, many more old photographic images of both Hull and Beverley than could ever be included here, and that these are but representative of the many thousands (or tens of thousands) which have survived.
